After High School, a summer job paid
for a year at The American Academy of Art, downtown Chicago.
Sadly, I was a bit too young, "unfocused" (wild), to get
the most out of that great school. Friends and I would skip
out on the afternoon "Life Drawing" classes, stroll
across the park with our pencils and paper in hand, to the Field
Museum of Natural History, and we would draw the stuffed exhibits
in their glass cages. A year later, I joined the Air Force.
Yes, life was a series of
non sequiturs.
But I used those next four years to work on my craft, so that by the time I hung up my uniform...
